The song which reached the Top 10 Spotify Global on 50 charts recently was titled Mangu, derived from a Javanese word that means "Speechless". The word was adapted to Bahasa Indonesia and it means "Stunned".

Mangu depicts the gloomy nuances of a separation story, influenced by different interpretations of spirituality, which is one of the common phenomena in Indonesia.

Here is *the faithful translation of Mangu's lyrics:

VERSE 1

Suatu malam adam bercerita
One night, Adam told a story

Hawanya tak lagi di jalur yang sama

his Eve wasn’t on the same line anymore

bacaan dan doa yang mulai berbeda

chant and prayer that started to be different

ego dan air mata kita bicara

Our ego and tears spoke up

CHORUS

Gila, tak masuk logika

Unbelievable, it didn’t make sense

Termangu hatiku

My heart went stunned

Kau menggenggam, kumenadahnya

You held hands, I cupped them up

VERSE 2

Berdamai dengan apa yang terjadi

Accepting the situation

Kunci dari semua masalah ini

was the key to solve all problems

Jujur tak mudah untuk melangkah pergi

Honestly, it wouldn’t be easy to walk away

Ini soal hati, bukan yang diyakini

It’s about heart, not what we believed to

CHORUS

Ow gila, ini tak biasa

Unbelievable, it didn't make sense

Termangu hatiku

My heart went stunned

Kau menggenggam, kumenadahnya

You held hands, I cupped them up

Ho-oh

BRIDGE

Jangan salahkan faham ku kini tertuju -oh

Don’t blame my beliefs on now

Siapa yang tau

Who would know?

Siapa yang mau

Who asked for it?

Kau di sana

You were there

Aku di seberangmu

I am across from you

Cerita kita sulit dicerna

Our story was difficult to comprehend

Tak lagi sama

It’s not the same anymore

cara berdoa

ways to pray

Cerita kita sulit diterka

Our story was difficult to predict

Tak lagi sama

It’s not the same anymore

arah kiblatnya oh

the qibla directions

Cerita kita sulit dicerna

Our story was difficult to comprehend

Tak lagi sama

It’s not the same anymore

Cara berdoa

ways to pray

Oh cerita kita sulit diterka

Our story was difficult to predict

Tak lagi sama

It’s not the same anymore

Arah kiblatnya oh

the qibla directions

Ari Lesmana (vocalist of Fortwnty) in a live performance, demonstrated the Islamic hand gesture when praying.

This song used allegory by calling a modern couple Adam and Eve. It refers to the Abrahamic first humans, that somehow leads the listeners to associate their story as Muslim or Christian (the two main believers in Indonesia by population). In the middle of the song, the writer implies both were worshiping the same God, but later one of them turned their head towards the other entity.

The presence of the female vocalist (singing the bridge part) represents her firm decision, as a believer who truly accepted her spiritual shift. In the end, both accepted their situation and respected each other. The lyrics imply their smooth separation while they were still in love.
